ICON Builders Turn 7-11 into New Corporate Headquarters, Aug. 27, 2001

SCOTTSDALE (Aug. 27, 2001) -- ICON Builders recently relocated from their office in the Scottsdale Airpark to a new 5,000-square-foot corporate office at 8889 E. Via Linda in Scottsdale. The general contracting firm built their own unique headquarters by converting and adding on to a defunct, boarded up 7-11 store that was on the site when they purchased the land. "Instead of razing the building, we looked for ways to incorporate it into our new office space," said Allen Sands, president of ICON Builders. "We had a lot of fun with it and it turned out great -- a couple of my team members are actually working in a converted beer cooler." ICON Builders has grown significantly in the past few years, from 30 employees in 1995 and revenues of $12 million, to 70 employees today, with projected 2001 revenues of $45 million. "We've experienced tremendous growth since we opened our Arizona office in 1998," said Sands. "Outgrowing our old space gave us the unique opportunity to design and build our offices in Scottsdale. We're very happy with the new building and our neighbors are glad the dilapidated 7-11 is gone. We plan to be a part of this community for the long term." ICON Builders, which also has offices in Southern California and Seattle, specializes in government-assisted multi-family projects, from affordable housing to luxury apartments. They currently have more than 1,500 units under construction in Arizona, California and Washington. Valley projects include several multi-million dollar luxury apartment complexes including The Villas at Camelback Crossing in Phoenix, and The Villas at Augusta Ranch in Mesa.
