Breezewood Village Receives Award of Excellence
LA MIRADA, CA - The Breezewood Village Senior Housing Development has received the 2003 California Redevelopment Association's (CRA) Award of Excellence in the category of Multi-Family Residential Development. The CRA Award of Excellence is a prestigious award that brings statewide public and professional recognition to those projects and programs which have made exemplary contributions to the redevelopment process and resulted in the betterment of communities. In partnership with Thomas Safran & Associates, the project developer, the La Mirada Redevelopment Agency and ICON Builders removed blighted apartment buildings and developed a 120-unit garden-style affordable senior apartment complex located along Imperial Highway and Breezewood Drive. The Breezewood Village Development successfully decreased criminal activities, improved the quality of life in the neighborhood, increased neighboring property values, and provided quality affordable senior housing opportunities for the community. This development is an example of the City/Redevelopment Agency's commitment to enhancing the quality of life in La Mirada. The award will be presented to the Redevelopment Agency at the California Redevelopment Association's annual conference to be held in March.
